Institute of Cosmology & Gravitation

The workshop aims to bring together experts in the study of gravity in higher-dimensional spacetime, to explore distinctive aspects of gravity and cosmological solutions embedded in curved spaces. We will be interested in reviewing progress in understanding brane-world gravity, the connection with string theory, and seeking observational tests, as well as exploring outstanding challenges and problems in the field.

The workshop will begin with a 3-day meeting, 18 - 20 September. Invited speakers include:

  • Cliff Burgess (Perimeter, Canada)

  • Cedric Deffayet (APC, Paris)

  • Gary Gibbons (Cambridge, TBC)

  • Ruth Gregory (Durham)

  • Panagiota Kanti (Durham)

  • David Langlois (APC, Paris)

  • James Lidsey (Queen Mary)

  • Kei-ichi Maeda (Waseda, Tokyo)

  • Nick Mavromatos (Kings College)

  • Lefteris Papantanopoulos (NTU, Athens)

  • Valery Rubakov (INR, Moscow)

  • Misao Sasaki (Kyoto)

  • Tetsuya Shiromizu (Tokyo Institute of Technology)

  • Jiro Soda (Kyoto)

  • Kellogg Stelle (Imperial)

  • Takahiro Tanaka (Kyoto)
