I describe some progress made on Szkekers models with a cosmological constant, reformulated a-la Goode and Weinwright, which allow us to describe these inhomogeneous spacetimes as exact non-linear deviations from a $Lambda$CDM background. The deviation however doesn’t need to average to zero, hence the FLRW background doesn’t necessarily represents an average. I will briefly discuss how this model can be used to investigate a number of open questions in cosmology in a simple idealized context.
