Title:  iMaNGA: mock MaNGA galaxies with IllustrisTNG cosmological simulations

Abstract: The IllustrisTNG project is a series of cosmological magnetohydrodynamical simulations succeeding the original Illustris project. These simulations are run at high spatial resolution ( ~100 pc) and for large cosmological volumes (50, 100 and 300 Mpc side length).  I will describe a new MaNGA project in which we construct a sample of mock MaNGA galaxies based on these simulations.  I will show how we generate realistic images and IFU data-cubes of mock MaNGA galaxies, and how we analyse these mock data-cubes, focusing in particular on the stellar component. The goal of this project is to construct a catalogue of mock MaNGA galaxies and to analyse this catalogue as if these were observed MaNGA galaxies. This allows us to do a fair comparison between our theory on the formation and evolution of galaxies and our observational constraints.
