Structure formation in Cosmology is generally studied with General Relativistic perturbation theory on large scales and Newtonian simulations on small scales. To go beyond this, researchers at the ICG, Portsmouth, have developed a new post-Newtonian formalism for Cosmology. I will briefly explain this formalism and show how a vector potential is present in the metric at leading order, even in the Newtonian limit of the theory.
I then discuss how this vector potential can be extracted from N-body simulations and present a power spectrum extracted from simulations. I will also briefly discuss some possible observational consequences of the vector potential.
