Recognising advancement of gender equality: representation, progression and success for all
The Athena SWAN Charter was established by the Equality Challenge Unit to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research.
After the University of Portsmouth was awarded Athena SWAN Bronze as a Higher Education Institution, the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation has been awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze award in 2015, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice in the department.
Here are the full ICG Athena SWAN submission and a presentation explaining the ICG Athena SWAN actions. The ICG Athena SWAN Action Plan contains a detailed list of the points the Athena Swan committee at the ICG is addressing.
Our Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team (David Bacon, Steve Cunnington, Ed Macaulay, Holly Purslow, Andrew Lundgren, David Wands) is a balanced team of volunteers representing ICG graduate students, research, support and academic staff.
