We exploit stellar population models of absorption line indices in the ultraviolet to access their power in determining physical parameters of the stellar population of galaxies. We use a system of 8 indices between 2200A and 3200A, tracing several chemical elements including Mg and Fe. We apply these models to z~0.65 massive galaxies from the SDSS-III/BOSS surveys using both individual spectra and stacks. This way we are able to assess the S/N ratio required to get meaningful determinations, which will be useful for future UV missions. Here we present some preliminary results of the analysis.
