A new UKRI open access policy applies to peer-reviewed research articles submitted for publication on or after 1 April 2022. See here

There are several ways to make your publication open access. See also Library’s OA pages.

1. Several journals are covered by the UoP deal and our articles are published open access at no cost. Check the list and instruction here.

These journals include

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
Classical and Quantum Gravity
Physics of the Dark Universe

For MNRAS published by OUP, see here and a step by step guide for instruction.

Note that this deal applies only when an UoP researcher is the corresponding author. If the corresponding author does not have a similar deal in their institution, the Article Processing Charge (APC) applies. If the corresponding author does not have funding, follow the steps here to comply with the open access requirement.

2. For other journals, the author should find funding to pay for Article Processing Charge (APC) to make the article open access (the ICG do not have any budget for APCs).

You can apply to the UKRI open access fund for costs to be covered. See here for further details. Note that you need to apply and secure funding before submission.

You can still fulfil the OA requirements by following the steps here for these journals.
